Unkraut Kollektive

  • July 2024
  • On the Spree, Berlin

The Unkraut Kollektive is a Berlin-based collective that merges art, culture, and activism to engage people with environmental and social issues. In July 2024, Ka'a Harmony teamed up with Unkraut to host an interactive event highlighting the work of Instituto Juruá and the significance of sustainable Pirarucu fishing in the Amazon Rainforest.

Aboard a boat on the Spree River, the event invited participants to dive into Amazonian biodiversity in a fun, hands-on way. Priscila led a biodiversity game and a collaborative painting of a life-sized Pirarucu, symbolizing the rainforest's vibrant ecosystem and sustainable practices. This artwork will travel to Instituto Juruá, representing the partnership between Germany and Brazil, and showing how art can inspire and unite people across continents.

The afternoon wrapped up with two short documentaries focused on women’s empowerment and the impact of sustainable fishing on local economies, providing insight into the transformative work of Instituto Juruá.

For Priscila, the event was a powerful reminder that combining art with activism can inspire meaningful action. As she continues developing Ka’a Harmony Foundation, this collaboration with Unkraut Kollektive marks an important step in raising awareness about the Amazon and its communities.
